Mud and Miracles is the young adult ministry of Calvary Chapel in Half Moon Bay, California. For two years, it has welcomed young people on the coastside into a safe environment to come and “get real” about what’s going on in their life, what struggles they’re dealing with, and to look at what God’s Word says about it. Through these men and women, entire families are being touched and brought to Christ, and a new youthful energy has really permeated the entire church.
We meet at 6:30pm on Wednesdays at 436 Purissima St.
So what’s with Peru?
Ryan and Nicole Petrik have served as missionaries in Cajamarca, Peru since 2011, sent out from Calvary Chapel Santa Cruz. What started as a simple plan to spend a couple of years there with their three (now, four) children has become a fruitful five year journey that God continues to bless. Ryan serves as the pastor of Refugio Iglesia Cristiana (Refuge Christian Church) in Cajamarca, works closely with El Refugio Orphanage & Children’s Home, and recently started a skateboarding ministry with the local youth.
Calvary Chapel HMB have been longtime friends and supporters of the Petriks, and the Mud and Miracles group in particular has always had a special connection with Ryan and Nicole. It was his simple message that “if God can use a knucklehead like me, He can use you too” that helped form M+M into the group that it is today.
Now M+M wants to give back in a powerful way. Over twenty of our members are packing their bags and getting ready for the first annual Power Up Peru missions trip dedicated to wrapping our hearts around three orphanages in need of construction related services, maintenance and monetary aid essential to expanding their love and care these little people of Peru. With your help; together, we can return the generosity Ryan Petrick has shown our community and leave Peru powered up and dedicated to the possibility of all children being cherished here and abroad.
Each M+M member is seeking to raise $2,500 to fund their trip as well as provide a nest egg for the Petriks’ valuable work in Peru.
